Commissioning A Mural

Steps To Commissioning
Step 1
I meet with the client to discuss their ideas and evaluate their space for a mural. It is extremely helpful if the client has photographs, color samples, or fabric samples to demonstrate their style or idea. If the client does not have any particular theme then we will look through some potential ideas for their home/office. I will also need a budget range before I begin designing.
Step 2
I make some initial sketches and we meet again. I will make any necessary changes to the sketches before I begin the painting process.
Step 3
I must have a clean surface (preferrably primed) before I begin. All holes must be patched ( I will spackle for an additional cost). At this point one half of the final price is due. All of the work is finished in a timely fashion.
Step 4
I have the client view the final work and any minor adjustments can be made. Once the client is satisfied I coat the painting with a protective varnish. The remaining balance is due at this time.

Pricing
The Initial Consultation with the client is free of charge.
The final price includes one to five sketches. If a sketch must be reworked because the client is indecisive, there will an extra charge for additional sketches. The following supplies are included: acrylic paints, varnish, paint applicators, air brush, air brush compressor, tape, cloths.
All art commissions are priced individually, but the following can help the client estimate the cost. Variables that are considered in the estimate are the degree of shading, degree of detail, strict adherence to a photograph/picture, the amount of research needed for the project, the working conditions, time available to work, driving distance.
The following table is ONLY an estimate
| little shading, animated characters, simple shapes |
$15 sq foot |
| moderate shading, few animals, landscapes |
$20 sq foot |
| great detail, many animals, architecture, trompe loeil, strict adherence to a picture |
$25 sq foot |

I offer various options for custom artwork.
- The traditional method of painting directly on the wall is a widely accepted method of showing a personal style.
- Some clients choose to have a smaller, traditional stretched canvas. This can be left for framing or a decorative trim can be used to "soften" the look.
- If a larger, non-traditional canvas is appealing, I can design them any size and add a curvature at the bottom. Various trims and beads can be added for custom look.

All work is 100% guaranteed. One half of the final price is due before painting begins. Once the project is complete and both parties are satisfied, the remainding amount is expected. Photographs of the art will be taken for promotional use only while the client's privacy is protected.
